Founded in 1974, California Reprographics & Supply Inc., also known by our customer base as Cal Repro, has been serving architectural, engineering and contractor professionals, local governments, state and federal agencies for over 30 years. In that lengthy and successful tenure, Cal Repro has evolved from a “blueprinter” into an accomplished and respected multi-talented digital service bureau producing high quality, high volume, standard and wide-format, black-and-white or color graphics and document reproduction. Cal Repro has incorporated the latest proven technologies in the architectural and engineering print world to stay on the forefront of local competition in this busy marketplace. Likewise with our digital color and black and white production, we have endeavored to keep up with the latest advancements in software and hardware. By employing knowledgeable pre-press design professionals and experienced production staff, we are able to deliver the highest quality print products on time and at reasonable prices. In this industry, the difference between long-lived success such as ours, and failure is a sensitive balance between excellent customer service, timely delivery, good management and the right technology needed to accomplish customer goals.
Cal Repro utilizes a knowledge-based and progressive approach to printing and technology, with an emphasis on automated, consistent, and innovative delivery systems. Since we have no allegiance to a particular software or hardware vendor, we have been able to compare, understand and utilize products that best enable us to deliver to our customers.
Utilizing readily available technology to deploy complex networks of servers, software and printing equipment, Cal Repro has established an infrastructure of connection and delivery to customers over the internet. We utilize Linux based FTP (electronic file transfer) servers to receive and send files as necessary. To maintain 24x7 management, we use remote-access and VPN (virtual private network) technology to monitor and control our print production facilities from anywhere. Furthermore, we are also proficient in internal and external web development and are able to choose from a wide range of powerful options in this environment to facilitate customer service and delivery of printed materials.
Executive Management
Michael Gargan, CEO
Cal Repro’s CEO and corporate president, Michael Gargan, has been in the printing business in various capacities over 18 years. His career began as the general manager of a print shop in his college years where he was asked to beta-test the first release of the venerable Pagemaker digital layout software product and established one of the first digital prints shops.
In another phase of his career, he enjoyed success in the sales management of networked digital color and black-and-white copiers and Raster Image Processors (RIP) and print server equipment in large corporate LAN/WAN enfironments. Still later, he managed the Northern California sales region for several brands of office automation equipment, at times employing and managing as many as fourteen territorial sales representatives.
Owning and operating Cal Repro is the results of a carefully planned goal. The plan was to take over a traditional blueprint shop with established customers, then nurture and expand it into a fully digital state-of-the-art color printing operation whose product offerings include three full-color printing formats, from standard-format black and white printing to Super-wide 10 foot wide printing. To these ends, his achievements have been satisfying and successful.
